The Qolşärif mosque (also spelled Qol Sherif, Kul Sharif) in Kazan Kremlin is the largest mosque in Russia and, reputedly, in Europe. It was built in 1995-2005 and is a rebuilt of the original mosque destroyed by the Russians in 1552 when they took Kazan from Tatars.
