The original KTVU.com local news link seems to be broken now, here is a more recent KTVU link but not sure how long that will last either. It's obvious that there is a motivation to try to keep McDonald "under the radar" as he is still not suspended and extremely popular as a valuable 49'er.

This new story implies that McDonald may have acted in self defense against an armed "pregnant fiancé". He continues to play with the 49er's pending investigations that the local police refuse to comment on. I don't know the specifics of McDonald's case, but this recent NFL violence thing may be approaching a witch hunt in some cases.
