Remains of the Colne and Trawden Light Railway

The Colne and Trawden Light Railway was a tramway that operated between Colne and Trawden in England. The line was active from 1903 to 1934.

The tramway closed in 1934. It is estimated that the service had traveled over 4,582,000 miles and carried about 57.5 million passengers during the years it was active.

Today most the track has been removed, but traces of the cobbled road and the single rail can still be seen in Trawden. The terminus in Trawden was demolished and the terminus in Colne was also demolished.

In this view you can clearly see the cobbled stone road and the single rail is still embedded in the road surface. This is the location of the Trawden terminus. If you follow the rail you will be surprised that the whole length of the road (behind this road) still has the full length of the single rail and cobblestone surface.
