This legendary 4 mile-14 turn road course opened in 1955. It hosts races for NASCAR (Nationwide Series), the United SportsCar Championship, regional SCCA sprints, AMA motorcycles, and numerous regional clubs and vintage car gatherings. Karts also race on a smaller course located in the infield.

The circuit was on the CART (Indy car) calendar from 1982-2004 and 2006-07. Four drivers are tied with having three victories in the event (Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacques Villeneuve, and Michael Andretti).
