Robert H. Goddard was an engineer, professor, physicist, and inventor who is credited with creating and building the world's first liquid-fueled rocket.
Goddard moved to Roswell, NM in 1930 for further experimentation with his rockets. His home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
The Goddard Space Flight Center was named in his honor. He was also tributed in Star Trek: The Next Generation, with a space shuttle named after him. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius featured a robotic dog named Goddard.
