Located in the Algarve region of modern-day Portugal are the remains of an ancient Roman villa and town. The Romans were the first to establish a settlement in the area in the 2nd century. The region of Algarve became Roman under the reign of Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus.

Among the ruins of the villa are some remains of the town. These include baths, a necropolis, dams and fishing stations.
