Ronnie Corbett, the Scottish actor and comedian star of the 'The Two Ronnies' with Ronnie Barker, lived here. Corbett was a well known Scottish stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and broadcaster in his time. Perhaps best known for his long association with Ronnie Barkerand the BBC television comedy sketch show The Two Ronnies starring the pair. He achieved prominence in David Frost's 1960s satirical comedy programme The Frost Report and subsequently starred in sitcoms such as No – That's Me Over Here!, Now Look Here, and Sorry! Classic BBC comedies.

Corbett began his acting career after moving from Edinburgh to London; he had early roles in the TV series Crackerjack and The Saint, and appeared in the films You're Only Young Twice, Rockets Galore!, Casino Royale, Some Will, Some Won't, and No Sex Please, We're British. He first worked with Ronnie Barker in the BBC TV series The Frost Report in 1966, and the two of them were given their own show by the BBC five years later when their chemistry was quickly recognized by the network. The Two Ronnies ran as a comedy sketch show from 1971 to 1987, and became Corbett and Barker's most famous work; Corbett became known for his meandering chair monologues which became somewhat of his signature.

Ronald Balfour "Ronnie" Corbett had a net worth of $10 million at the time of his death in 2016. Corbett did not go to university and instead launched his acting career immediately. Outside of The Two Ronnies, he has other well-known credits like his portrayal of Timothy Lumsden, in the sitcom Sorry!. Corbett appeared in a number of advertisements and has also made cameo appearances in shows like Extras, Little Britain Abroad, and Piers Morgan's Life Stories. He also hosted the show Strictly Come Dancing and was a panelist in the BBC 1 comedy show, Would I Lie to You? . In 2012, Corbett was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to entertainment and charity. Ronnie tragically died on March 31, 2016 at the age of 85 still a star in the eyes of many.
