Rosemary Clooney's House (Demolished)

Actress and singer Rosemary Clooney and her husband, actor Jose Ferrer bought a Spanish style house on 1019 North Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills in 1953. Clooney retained the property after their divorce in the 1960s. Her nephew, actor George Clooney moved in during the 1980s and worked as her personal assistant. She lived here until her death in 2002.

The house was built in 1928 and it's first owner was a photographer named Lansing Brown. In 1934, Brown accidentally shot Russ Columbo, a famous singer at the time that was Bing Crosby’s main recording rival. Clooney said that in the 1950s when she and Crosby would record their radio shows in the house he would refuse to enter the den, which is the room in which Columbo was shot.

Clooney and Ferrer's kids used to sell lemonade to tourists. Rosemary reported that on Christmas of 1955, Bing Crosby and his four sons sang carols outside the homes along North Roxbury Drive.

Between Brown and Clooney, the house was the home of composer George Gershwin.

The house was sold in 2003 for $7.75 Million with the plans to demolish it. Then, it was sold again in 2005 to a real estate investor Ned Nik for $9 Million. He demolished the house in 2007 and built the current mansion on the property.
