In 2008, professional hockey player Scotty Gomez made a substantial donation to rebuild an outdoor ice rink in his hometown of Anchorage, Alaska. As a young child, he learned how to skate on this rink located in Tikishla Park.

Gomez currently plays with the Montreal Canadiens after seven seasons with the New Jersey Devils and two seasons with the New York Rangers.
