Seal base at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado

Seal base at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado

San Diego, California (CA), US
Swastika shaped building constructed in the 1960s. The unusual shape went unnoticed until discovered by people on Google Earth in 2007. Although architectural modifications were promised, due to money constraints, there was not much success in changing the visual appearance.

From http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/25646/an//page//vc/1:

"Actually, thats not the Seal base, it is Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, the Seal base is just s.w. across the street. The building you guys are talking about is a 4 story barracks, thats holds personel from Assualt Craft Unit 1, and Beach Masters Unit 1, and possibly some of Special Boat Unit 1. I lived there for 4 years on the 4th floor. Seal teams 1,3, and 5 were stationed across the street when I was attatched to A.C.U.-1 and it is also were they have B.U.D.S. or basic underwater demoltion school, where you go for a year of hell before you have a chance to get accepted to a seal tem. If you look at the 2 buildings to the direct west of the building above, you will notice they resemble bomber planes facing toward the swatzika, which symbolizes US against the nazis.

Now it all makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out!

Two buildings to the direct west??? Ummm? To the Southwest perhaps? They kinda do look like bomber planes but was that intentional? Or just using imagination? While the middle portion looks like a traditional plane, the outer wings kinda give the design a TIE fighter sort of look. If they wanted to give the appearance of bombers attacking the Nazis, why put the TIE fighter wings on?
