The U.S. State Department, Novaya Gazeta, New York Times, are all reporting that this prison camp in Chechnya, which was formally closed in 2000, is currently being used as a prison camp where Chechen homosexuals are being kept and tortured through beatings, humiliation, and electrocution. This is in addition to the extrajudicial murders and so-called "honor killings" “in connection with their nontraditional sexual orientation, or suspicion of such."
