She is best known for playing the sly, outgoing, wizard Alex Russo on the the Disney Channel Original Series, "Wizards of Waverly Place," an American fantasy teen sitcom which ran from October 12, 2007 until January 6, 2012. The show followed three wizard siblings with magical abilities competing to win sole custody of the family powers. Its series finale averaged nearly 10 million viewers (live+same day), and continues to be the most-watched series finale in Disney Channel's history.

Gomez's music career got its start though music in support of Disney TV and movies, but with her record deal, she was also able to form the pop-rock band Selena Gomez & the Scene. Their debut studio album, released in August 2009, went on to receive a Gold certification from the RIAA. Their most popular singles are "Naturally," "Falling Down," "A Year Without Rain," "Love You Like a Love Song," and "Hit the Lights." After three albums, Selena Gomez left the band and released a solo album, Stars Dance in 2013, which achieved success through the lead single "Come and Get It."
