Shepherd Field (Abandoned)

Shepherd Field (Abandoned)

El Monte, California (CA), US
This airfield was built sometime in the postwar era, possibly as a commuter strip for the man who then owned the Caterpillar dealership. The runway is clearly visible in this image running from northeast to southwest, just north of the train tracks.

The dealership is still in business at this location, but the airstrip is closed. Good thing, or commuting on the 605 now bordering the strip could get a bit hairy!
