The Sandy Sct. Laurentii Church is about. four kilometers southwest of Skagen-center in the plantation area east of the main road.

The church was probably built in the late 1300 century. At that time, the largest church in Vendsyssel.

By sand drift beginning in the 16th century it became increasingly difficult for the congregation to dig through to the church at worship. The fight against the sand stood on until 1795 when the church was closed on the orders of King Christian 7.

The church aisle was pulled down and used in other projects, but the tower was spared and used as a beacon.

Today the tower is protected and after studies in 1994, the church vestry and aisle location in the ground now marked with red stakes. Faskine marks where the old kirkegårdsmur stood.
