I assume the "Dan" is the piano tuner, no idea which of the others are Bruce.
Bruce Bodine, 48, and his then-employee Dan Antilla painted the face in 1994, shortly after the building was constructed.
Bodine has several friends and relatives who are pilots, and said he thought it would be a fun way to mark the building so they could identify it easily from the air.
I gotta say, after trekking down here to snap the pics, that it was a considerable anticlimax for what is now an internationally famous building (if only for 15 minutes). There is no higher ground in the area from which to get a shot of the roof, unfortunately.
Set exposure timer ... throw camera as high as you can ... pray you catch camera ... catch camera ... say prayer of thanks that you caught the camera ... view shot ... curse shot ... repeat as needed.
