1/3 mile oval track nicknamed "The Toughest Short Track in the South". It was originally a 1/5 mile dirt oval track named Royal Speedway when it opened in 1947. It was enlarged to 1/4 mile by 1950 and was enlarged and paved to it's current size in 1962. The track held four NASCAR Grand National events from 1961-63, with wins by Junior Johnson, Jimmy Pardue, Cliff Stewart, and Ned Jarrett. Today, several classes of stock cars, modifieds, and karts race here on Friday nights.
A few months after the track owner suffered a stroke, it was announced in March 2011 that the track was cancelling it's season.
