Spoon River Speedway

Spoon River Speedway

Canton, Illinois (IL), US
This high-banked 3/8 mile clay oval race track opened in 1983. It was originally known as Dixie Speedway until it was renamed the following year. Late model stock cars, modifieds, and street stock cars race here on a regular basis. Sprint cars, midgets, and motorcycles also race here during special events.

On the positive side, the track is very wide, which leads to some wild passing opportunities and great racing. The negatives - below average concessions, old trough mens restroom, and cell phone reception is very poor.

The track is actually located alongside the Illinois River. Spoon River is a tributary which feeds into the Illinois about ten miles south of here.
