The new UEFA Category 4 stadium "Arena Națională" was opened in September 2011 and has a capacity of 55,600 seats. It has a retractable roof and most people recognize a big resemblance with the "Commerzbank-Arena" in Frankfurt, Germany.

This stadium hosted the Final of the 2011-12 UEFA Europa League. It was the first final of a European football club competition hosted by Romania.
