Auto racing was held at this fairgrounds race track from 1954-2009. Cars raced on a 1/2 mile oval track until 2002, when a smaller 3/8 mile oval track was created.

The city decided to close down the facility after the 2009 season, citing an expensive repair to the electrical system and other upgrades needed to meet the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

In the track's final years, sprint cars and stock cars raced from March - October. This track was a regular stop for the travelling American Sprint Car Series (ASCS).
