The Statue of Alexander John Cuza from Iasi is a bronze monument made by the Italian sculptor Raffaello Romanelli (1856-1928) and dedicated the first ruler of the United Romanian Principalities, Alexandru Ioan Cuza (1859-1866)
Alexandru Ioan Cuza Statue was unveiled on May 27, 1912 in the presence of King Carol I, Ferdinand and Charles princes. King Carol I spoke on this occasion the following words:
"The first king of Romania to fulfill a sacred duty by the first ruler of the united sister countries, bringing before this monument tribute of honor to be paid to the memory of Cuza Voda, which remains de-unquenchable forever in the memory of the people "
Statue of Alexandru Ioan Cuza is being placed on a pedestal of white stone and granite pedestal, together with 6.5 meters height. The statue is made of bronze and has a height of 3.5 meters. Prince is depicted in his famous officer uniform and surrounded by princely mantle. A replica of the statue is located in Union Square in Craiova.
