Stony Brook Air Force Station

Stony Brook Air Force Station

Ludlow, Massachusetts (MA), US
The Stony Brook Air Force Station, adjacent to Westover Air Force Base, served as a storage and maintenance site for SAC's nuclear weapons. One of the National Operational Storage Sites, Stony Brook was code-named "Item."

The Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company is now the primary owner of the property, while the Hamden County House of Correction is situated at the north end. Storage "igloos" and other nuclear-related buildings are still to be seen, as is the highly secure railroad unloading dock.
