No idea what these pools are for, but they are noticable as an attractive hexagonal web from above. There is what looks like an oil refinery just to the east. Could this be the Caltex refinery?

I've just driven round them. They're one of the best birdwatching sites in South Africa, and at sunset the air is full of roosting pelicans as well as the smell of poo.
