A coaching inn has stood on this location since the 15th century. The current building was bulit in the Georgian style and has been owned by the same family since 1973. Besides the ivy, the hotel is also known as Charles Dickens' lodging while he gave readings nearby (blue marker nearby) and were Angelina Jolie stayed while filming "Tomb Raider".
