Designed by Dale Naegle in the 1960s, the house was built for Sam Bell of Bell’s Potato Chips. Sam Bell was my grandfather - it's funny that all of these articles are saying Bell's potato chips.....sorry never had any connection there. When I was a kid we would very often come and stay in this house and those are some of the best memories I have. It looked VERY different - no big concrete wall, the windows were different and the elevator made a stop at the house level with a gangplank of sorts over to enter into the kitchen area. It was filled with very modern furniture ala Saarinen & Eames which I never appreciated until I got into design school. I can to this day smell the smells of those cliffs, beach & house and of course nothing better than listening to the waves pounding.
