Ogden Phipps (†2002) was the grandson of Carnegie Steel magnate, Henry Phipps. He was a stockbroker, court tennis champion and Hall of Fame member, thoroughbred horse racing executive and owner/breeder, and an art collector and philanthropist.

His 12,000-square-foot house on a 20-acre estate was built around 1930
and designed by the Manhattan architectural firm of Delano and Aldrich.
