The Runaways were an American all-girl rock band that recorded and performed in the second half of the 1970s. The band released four studio albums and one live set during its run. Among its best known songs: "Cherry Bomb", "Queens of Noise", "Neon Angels On the Road to Ruin", "California Paradise" "Dead End Justice", and the cover of The Velvet Underground’s "Rock n Roll". The Runaways, though never a major success in the United States, became a sensation in 1977 in Japan thanks to the hit single "Cherry Bomb."

Sandy West (July 10, 1959 – October 21, 2006) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and drummer. She was one of the founding members of The Runaways, the first teenage, all-girl hard rock band to record and achieve widespread commercial success in the 1970s.

Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin; September 22, 1958) is an American rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and occasional actress, best known for her work with Joan Jett & the Blackheart. Jett was a founding member of The Runaways.
