Thomas J Hutchison III is a senior executive with more than 35 years of experience focused in the lodging, hospitality, real estate development and financial services industries.

Mr. Hutchison is the principal founder of Legacy Hotel Advisors, LLC and Legacy Healthcare Properties, LLC. He currently serves as the chairman of both companies. In January 2000, he joined CNL Financial Group, Inc. – one of the nation’s largest, privately held real estate investment and finance companies, where he held several key executive positions over a seven year period: CEO of CNL Hotels & Resorts, Inc., CEO of CNL Retirement Properties, Inc., CEO of CNL Income Properties, Inc., CEO of CNL Real Estate Services, Inc., and CEO of CNL Realty & Development, Inc. In 2000, CNL Retirement Properties, Inc. was a public, unlisted REIT with three staff members, and no properties. Under Mr. Hutchison’s leadership, the Healthcare REIT acquired $3.8 billion in over 300 properties, and was sold for $5.3 billion to Health Care Properties, Inc. in October of 2006. CNL Hotels & Resorts, Inc., also a public, unlisted REIT started in 2000, began with $250 million in properties. When Mr. Hutchison became CEO, he turned it into one of the largest and most distinctive lodging companies in the country. In April of 2007, the company was purchased for $6.6 billion by Morgan Stanley.
