Part of this historic stadium was torn down in June and July 2008. A last minute effort to save the stadium for use as a sports museum halted the demoltion. In an agreement with the Detroit City Council, supporters need to raise $15 million by March 2009 to keep the rest of the building from being demolished.
Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers played here from 1912-99. The National Football League's Detroit Lions played here from 1938-74.
