Totò Riina's House (former)

Totò Riina's House (former)

Corleone, Italy (IT)
Salvatore "Totò" Riina was the leader of the Cosa Nostra, the Sicilian Mafia, during the 1980s and early 90s. He turned Palermo into a war zone and ordered the killing of hundreds of mafiosi and dozens of policemen, judges, prosecutors, politicians, journalists and businessmen. A Corleone native, he is regarded as the most powerful and violent Sicilian mafia boss of all time.

Riina built this house for his family and himself. It contained six apartments for Riina and his wife, their four children, and his brother-in-law. His main hideout was in Palermo, though, and he only occasionally made clandestine visits to his family in Corleone. Riina was arrested in 1993 and has been in jail ever since, the home was seized in 1995.
