The original Tower of meloria was destroyed from the Genoeses in 1284 following the battle of the Meloria. Reconstructed in 1598 it was again demolished because of the due damages to the corrosion and rebuilt in 1709. Characteristic coastal tower erected on a rock-cliff in the shoals that to west in Livorno are extended for around 9 kms. Four pillars of boulder sustain the arcs ogivali that, along all of its sides, they allow the free course of the waters. A registration remembers the famous battle of the Meloria of which the tower was witness and another it warns some danger of the rock-cliffs. It deals with the most famous tower of the coast because of the battle of the Meloria that brought to the destruction of the native tower. Typical example of strengthened architecture medicea.
