Town Hall of Aachen

Town Hall of Aachen

Aachen, Germany (DE)
The Cathedral and Town Hall, which are joined by the Katschhof, are the geographic and historic centre of Aachen. About 650 years ago, the Palace Hall of Charlemagne was converted into the gothic town hall. The Council Hall, baroque reception rooms and the office of the Lord Mayor are located on the ground floor. The Coronation Hall with its rich decoration of frescos was once the location of the coronation feasts. Every year, Aachen uses this hall to award the International Karlspreis, the most important political award in Europe.
