It is situated on a small island, now united with the mainland, where in the first half of the XIII century there was the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio del Mare which was destroyed in the XVI century. The quarantine of shipping crews with suspicious epidemics was carried out here. The new Lazzaretto was built between 1830 and 1832. The complex now houses the Italian Lega Navale and looks like a large exedra.
