This house located at 4295 Ensenada Dr. in Woodland Hills, California is where artist Don Van Vliet (AKA: Captain Beefheart), and his band, lived communally, rehearsed, and recorded some content for Beefheart's seminal 1969 album; 'Trout Mask Replica'.

Much has since been documented of the monk-like conditions under which the band lived throughout most of 1968 and early 1969 here, rarely leaving the property and painstakingly learning Van Vliet's complex and dissonant compositions. After 8 months of living and rehearsing here, the band entered a recording studio and in 6 hours produced a double LP worth of musical content.
