The Umbrailpass (ital. also Giogo di Santa Maria, in former times also “Wormser yoke”) is a mountain pass at the border between Italy and Switzerland. It connects on 2 ' 501 m ü. M. the Val Müstair (cathedral valley) with Santa Maria, Kanton grey federations with the Addatal with boron millions. It is the high-altitude autopassport of Switzerland. 13,4 km long road of Santa Maria on the Umbrailpass 1901 were finished and flow directly behind the passport height into the southwest ramp of the road over the Stilfserjoch. The connection over the Umbrailpass is the original connection between the Obervinschgau and the Veltlin (boron million).
The road is generally well passable from April to Octobers. On Swiss side about 2.5 km consist of a crushed stone way with open pasture course. The passport is also at night passable, however it is then alike to a dead end, since the border is closed to Italy starting from 22:00 clock.
