Vandalized Abraham Lincoln statue

Vandalized Abraham Lincoln statue (StreetView)
On January 30, 2016, 22 year old Jacob Hinds used his pickup truck to pull this 1,600 pound statue from its base. It fell onto a snowbank below and fortunately only suffered minor damage. It helped that Lincoln's arms are behind his back, instead of being outstretched and more prone to break from a fall.

The statue was quickly repaired at a cost of about $5,000. A Civil War reenactment group took part in a re-dedication ceremony on February 14, 2016 - one day before the Presidents Day national holiday.

The statue was given to the city as a gift in October 1913. It was sculpted by George Etienne Ganiere.
