My parents are from this town, Valle de Santiago. I stayed at this town for a couple weeks last year (Dec. 05') and decided to check out the volcano crater they call "La Joya". The crater is located in a little town/village called El Rincon de Parangueo. Once you get there, there will be kids that will watch your vehicle for 10 pesos (That's like one U.S. dollar). The entrance to the crater is about 4 or 5 pesos. Make sure you take a flashlight with you, because you will have to go through a dark tunnel to get to the other side of the mountain..it's about a 7min. walk to get to the other side. Email me at jm_460@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Does anyone have information on how the wires were installed that go across the center of the volcano?
