W. Rodman Ryan's House

W. Rodman Ryan is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Viet Nam War. Following his discharge, he started a small automobile business that under his leadership would grow into the Open Road Auto Group, one of the most respected automobile dealership chains in the country. He now serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ryan Automotive LLC and the Open Road Auto Group.

While attending college following his military service, Mr. Ryan opened his first dealership in 1972, selling recreational vehicles, used cars, and Honda motorcycles out of a two-bay garage in Edison, New Jersey. Over the next 40 years, through creativity, vision, leadership, and philanthropy, Rod Ryan grew the Open Road Auto Group to include 20 locations in New Jersey and New York.

Ryan and the Open Road Auto Group have donated countless dollars and hours in support of organizations including the Somerset Hills YMCA, Somerset Medical Center and other hospitals, numerous schools, youth sports, police and fire departments, first responders, food banks, Boys and Girls Clubs, scouts, and much more.

Ryan serves as Vice-Chair of the Somerset Hills YMCA Board of Directors and is Co-Chair of the organization’s Strengthen Tomorrow Endowment Campaign, a $5 million effort with over $3 million already raised. The Open Road Auto Group has served for four years as the presenting sponsor of the Y’s annual Strong Kids Golf Classic and sponsor of the benefit performance at the Big Apple Circus in 2010.
