On April 17, 2013, an explosion occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. CDT (00:50 UTC, April 18) at the West Fertilizer Company plant in West, Texas, 18 miles north of Waco, Texas. Early media reports indicated mass damage to buildings and heavy casualties.
