This massive complex serves not only regional commuter trains and buses, but also AMTRAK and NJ Transit lines. One may be able to compare the necessity of the complex to New York City's Penn Station or Washington, DC's Union Station.

Interesting facts:

*Part of the 1985 film "Witness" (starring Harrison Ford and directed by Peter Weir) was shot here.

*The local subway trains serving 30th Street Station are not actually connected to the building; rather, commuters must ascend from the subway station and walk approximately a half-block to the main building.

*This is one of only four locations where all Philadelphia regional light rail commuter trains stop.
