The basement was a graveyard for mob victims. A human leg bone and a portion of a human shoulder bone were excavated from the basement on June 6, 1980. The bones were thought to have been those of two of Burke's associates, Thomas DeSimone and Martin Krugman, who went missing a short time after the Lufthansa heist. Robert's Lounge was under control of new owners by 1980, and was known as South Side Inn. In 2015, a restaurant serving Guyanese and Jamaican food was operating at this location.

The Kyoto Animation arson attack occurred at Kyoto Animation's Studio 1 building in Kyoto, Japan, on the morning of 18 July 2019. The arson killed 36 people, injured an additional 34 - including the suspect, and destroyed most of the materials and computers in Studio 1. It is one of the deadliest massacres in Japan since the end of World War II. Shinji Aoba was identified as the suspect by police, and had no direct connection to the studio, although years earlier he had submitted a draft script that was rejected. Shinji Aoba is not known to have worked in the entertainment industry at any time. After recovering from his injuries, the arsonist Shinji Aoba was later sentenced to death, and forfeited his appeal in 2024, which the court affirmed in 2026.

Ford's Theatre is a theater in Washington, D.C., which opened in 1863. In 1865, it was the site of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth. The theater was later used as a warehouse and government office building. In 1893, part of its interior flooring collapsed, causing 22 deaths, and needed repairs were made. The building became a museum in 1932, and it was renovated and re-opened as a theater in 1968.

The site was originally a house of worship, constructed in 1833 as the second meeting house of the First Baptist Church of Washington. In 1861, after the congregation moved to a newly built structure, John T. Ford bought the former church and renovated it into a theater.

On 1/7/2026, Renee Nicole Good, a 37-yr-old woman and US citizen, was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Good was idling in a car at the scene of an ongoing ICE operation, when she was approached by ICE agents who allegedly gave conflicting orders. As Good attempted to exit the area, in response to one of the issued orders, she passed near 1 of the agents, who shot her in the head while not standing in the path of the car. Federal officials and president Trump have defended the shooting, claiming the ICE agent acted in self defense and that Good attempted to run him over. These claims have been widely debunked by eyewitnesses, journalists' analysis of video footage, local figures, and Democratic Party lawmakers, the latter of whom have called for a criminal investigation.

On June 2, 2023, in Ocala, Florida, 35-year-old Ajike "A.J." Shantrell Owens[1] was shot and killed by her neighbor, 58-year-old Susan Louise Lorincz. Owens had gone to Lorincz’s door after an altercation between her children and Lorincz in a grassy field nearby. While Owens stood outside the front door, Lorincz fired a single shot through it, striking Owens in the chest.[2]

Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's Office were already en route to the residence in response to a report of “trespassing” when a second 911 call reported gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found Owens on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 10:00 p.m.[3][4]

The shooting drew national attention, igniting renewed debate over Florida’s stand-your-ground law and the intersection of race, self-defense, and neighborhood disputes. Civil rights advocates, including attorney Benjamin Crump, argued that Owens’s killing underscored systemic bias in how such laws are applied. Crump publicly called for Lorincz’s arrest, describing the incident as “an unconscionable killing of a mother who simply knocked on a door.”[5]

Lorincz was arrested on June 6, 2023, and charged with manslaughter with a firearm, culpable negligence, battery, and two counts of assault. During interrogation, she claimed she acted in fear for her safety, though investigators later stated that forensic evidence contradicted elements of her account.

In August 2024, following a week-long trial in Marion County Circuit Court, Lorincz was found guilty of manslaughter with a firearm. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison that November.

In 2025, the case became the subject of the documentary film The Perfect Neighbor, which explored the broader cultural and racial dynamics surrounding the shooting and the public response that followed

This apartment in São Paulo became widely known in Brazil due to the shocking 2012 case involving Elize Matsunaga. Elize, a former nursing student and law graduate, was married to businessman Marcos Kitano Matsunaga, an executive at food company Yoki.
The couple lived a luxurious life in this high-end building in Vila Leopoldina, a wealthy neighborhood in São Paulo. However, their marriage deteriorated over time due to financial disputes and infidelity.
In May 2012, after discovering that her husband was seeing another woman, Elize shot Marcos during an argument inside their apartment. She later dismembered his body and disposed of the remains along a highway outside São Paulo. The crime shocked the country for its brutality and the social status of those involved.
Elize was arrested and later convicted of homicide and concealment of a corpse. She served part of her sentence and was released on parole in 2022. The case inspired several documentaries and a Netflix series, Elize Matsunaga: Once Upon a Crime, which revisits the story through her own perspective.
After the crime, the apartment was sold, and it remains a point of morbid curiosity among true-crime enthusiasts who follow infamous crime locations around the world.

On September 24, 2025, a shooter identified as Joshua Jahn shot three people detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at an immigration facility near Interstate 35E in the Love Field area of Dallas, Texas, before shooting and killing himself. The shooter fired multiple rounds from a nearby rooftop down into the field office's sally port.

One of the victims was killed on scene, while the other two were taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition. All three were shot in a van in the sally port. No officers or staff were injured.

Jahn, who had no known political affiliations or overt anti-ICE activity online, had a prior drug-related arrest and experience with firearms. Authorities found unfired ammunition marked "ANTI-ICE" at the scene and anti-ICE notes in his personal effects, leading investigators to conclude that the attack was a premeditated terrorist act, but that he acted alone and was targeting ICE agents rather than detainees. Details of the attack and Jahn's background remain under investigation.

Aristos Constantinou was murdered in the early hours of New Year's Day 1985 at his home in The Bishops Avenue, Hampstead, London. Jonathan Joss was an American actor and musician of Native American ancestry. He is best known for his roles as John Redcorn in King of the Hill and as Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation. He was shot and killed by a neighbor and died at age 59.

On January 23, 2025, his home burned down.

On June 1, 2025, Joss and his spouse were driven by a woman to the burned down home to check the mail. A confrontation then occurred between Joss and a neighbor resulting in Joss being shot. A witness reported hearing three gunshots and Joss with wounds to his neck and torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect was arrested shortly afterward. The suspect then told police "I shot him" after being taken into custody. Neighbors told a local TV station that Joss and the suspect had often argued in the past but no violence had previously occurred.[20] Despite years of complaints to the city and 311, neighbors stated that police had done little. In total, police were called 74 times to the residence over the years.

Joss's husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, stated in a Facebook post recounting the events saying that upon arrival they found the skull and harness of one of their dogs, leading to "severe emotional distress". Then the suspect yelled "violent homophobic slurs" before opening fire and that neither of them were armed. Additionally, Kern de Gonzales alleged that various people in the area had for years verbally assaulted them with homophobic slurs and threats to burn down their home. Kern de Gonzales described the attack as a homophobic hate crime, stating that the suspect "started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired."

Fred West was an English serial killer, who committed at least twelve murders between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire, England the majority with his second wife, Rose West.

All the victims were young women. At least eight of the murders involved the Wests' sexual gratification and included rape, bondage, torture, and mutilation; the victims' dismembered bodies were typically buried in the cellar or garden of the West residence in Gloucester, which became known as the "House of Horrors". Fred is known to have committed at least two murders on his own; Rose is known to have murdered Fred's stepdaughter, Charmaine. The couple were arrested and charged in 1994.

Fred fatally asphyxiated himself while detained on remand at HM Prison Birmingham on 1 January 1995, at which time he and Rose were jointly charged with nine murders, and he with three further murders. In November 1995, Rose was convicted of ten murders and sentenced to ten life terms with a whole life order.

Forty five years ago, Friday, June 13, 1980, a Fairview housewife killed a Wylie middle school teacher in such a horrific way that some will never forget.

Candace Montgomery, 30, wielded a 3-foot-long ax she found in the garage at the home of Betty and Allan Gore on 410 Dogwood Drive in Wylie, striking Betty 41 times while daughter Bethany slept in her crib in another room.

It was bloody and it was brutal, and it put the small town of 3,700 on the map as being home to one of the most heinous crimes in Collin County.

In the 1990 CBS TV movie A Killing in a Small Town, based on the Montgomery case but with names changed, Barbara Hershey won the Emmy award and the Golden Globe award portraying the lead character, named Cathy Morrison.

Jessica Biel portrays Montgomery in the Hulu series Candy, which debuted in May 2022.

Montgomery was portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in the Max series Love & Death, which debuted in April 2023.

Murder of Hans Pozo

The murder of Hans Pozo was a Chilean police case of dismemberment that occurred in March 2006 in the city of Santiago . The crime was discovered on March 27, after the accidental discovery of a human foot on a public road in Puente Alto . The subsequent appearance of other mutilated remains in different locations in the southern part of the capital, all corresponding to the same person, allowed the police to identify the victim as Hans Hernán Pozo Vergara, a 20-year-old man.

The sole suspect in the murder and dismemberment, businessman Jorge Iván Martínez Arévalo, committed suicide twelve days after the discovery of the first severed limb, while being visited by the Carabineros for questioning. In 2007, the Prosecutor's Office found Martínez guilty of masterminding the crime.

On December 30, suspect Bryan Christopher Kohberger was arrested in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.
During the fall 2022 semester, five female University of Idaho students lived in a rented off-campus residence in the rural college town of Moscow, Idaho. The three-story home had six bedrooms, two on each floor. There had not been a murder in the town since 2015.

Chris Watts confessed to killing his pregnant wife and two young daughters in November 2018 in Weld County Colorado, north of Denver.

According to the CBI, upon investigating the site they located Shanaan’s body in a shallow grave, still wearing her shirt, bra and underwear. Their report said that at the highest point of her buried body there was only three inches of dirt covering her.

Ther girls were found in two different oil wells that contained crude oil. Each only had an eight-inch opening, according to the CBI. Bella was in the west oil tank and Celeste was inside the east tank. Investigators reported that they found what looked like blonde hairs on at least one of the tank rims.

Authorities in Ohio found the body of missing 13-year-old Keimani Latigue on Monday. Her father, Darnell Jones, who was initially charged with abduction, is now charged with murder.Toledo police said they found a body during the investigation into the 13-year-old girl’s disappearance. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office confirmed the body found on the second floor of an abandoned Miami Street house is that of the teen. An autopsy determined the teen died of multiple “incised wounds of the neck” and ruled her death a homicide.

James Byrd Jr. was an American man who was murdered by three men, two of whom were avowed white supremacists, in Jasper, Texas, on June 7, 1998. Shawn Berry, Lawrence Brewer, and John King dragged him for 3 miles (5 kilometers) behind a Ford pickup truck along an asphalt road. Byrd, who remained conscious for much of his ordeal, was killed about halfway through the dragging when his body hit the edge of a culvert, severing his right arm and head. The murderers drove on for another 1+1⁄2 miles (2.5 kilometers) before dumping his torso in front of a black cemetery.

The attack on the DAS building was a terrorist attack that occurred on Wednesday, December 6, 1989 in Bogotá, Colombia, perpetrated by the Medellín Cartel with the aim of assassinating the then director of the Administrative Department of Security (DAS), Miguel Alfredo Maza Márquez, who had become one of the main authorities involved in fighting the drug lord. Pablo Escobar and the group calling itself Los Extraditables. General Maza Márquez was unharmed because his office was armored, but the car bomb attack loaded with 500 kilos of dynamite would leave 63 dead and some 600 wounded. The attack against this Colombian intelligence agency occurred only a week after the attack on Avianca Flight 203, also organized and perpetrated by hitmen in the service of the Medellín Cartel.
It is considered the largest terrorist attack in the history of Colombia and Latin America, being compared only to the 1994 AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 2025 Setia City Mall shooting is a shooting incident occured at Setia City Mall at around 10:50PM on 8 February 2025. A solo gunman with pistol fired at least 8 shots in the shopping mall, injuring one janitor in the legs and causing mass panic among the shoppers. The shooting caused the shopping mall to be evacuated and stores inside the mall to roll down their shutters. The gunman, later identified as Yap Chin Boon, 35, a Malaysian, also nicknamed "Ah Boy", fled to the carpark of the shopping mall after the shooting. Yap then hijacked a Perodua Ativa SUV carried with a family of six at gunpoint and forced the SUV driver to drive him away from the scene. Yap then dropped off from the SUV at the Pandamaran exit of KESAS Highway and subsequently escaped.

On 18 February 2025 at around 3:00 AM, 10 days after the incident, Yap Chin Boon was shot dead during a shootout with the police at a hotel room in Pulau Ketam when Bukit Aman and Selangor CID officers carried out a raid on him.
