The Southeast Peninsula of Saint Kitts island stretches approximately 14km (9 miles) southeast from the country's capital, Basseterre.

The Pennisula projects into the strait which separates the island from Nevis island. At the start of the Pennisula there is an isthmus which at its narrowest point, is less than one kilometre wide.

Notable features of the Peninsula include the Country's largest lake, the Great Salt Pond, St. Anthony's Peak and Turtle Beach.

At 14:25Z on Tuesday 18th April 2023 (World Amateur Radio Day) Ian GW0HRG/P a radio amateur who was transmitting from a portable location near Aberdaron on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales made contact with Mike 8Q7MZ on Rakeedhoo island in the Maldives via the Qatar-OSCAR 100 satellite transponder with Ian GW0HRG/P.

Mike was on Rakeedho Island in the Maldive Islands as part of a DXpedition with 3 other radio operators from Austria.

The transponder has an uplink on 2.4GHz and a downlink on 100GHz and was a joint project between the Qatar Satellite Company, Qatar ARS and AMSAT (Deutschland). It is on board the Es-hail-2 satellite which was launched in 2018. The satellite is in geo-stationary orbit above the equator at 26 degrees East.

Both Ian and Mike were clearly heard via the WebSDR hosted at Goonhilly Earth Station in Cornwall. The WebSDR allows anyone around the world to listen to satellite transponder downlink.

The Llyn Peninsula (Pen Llyn) in north Wales is an area of amazing natural beauty with its outstanding scenery. It affords views of Snowdonia and the west coast of Walles, it also has a number of picturesque sea villages.

Varadero is a resort town on the Hicacos Peninsula in central Cuba. It is also considered one of the largest resort areas in the Caribbean. Wealthy patrons like Al Capone and Irenee DuPont visited the beaches in the 1930's during its golden years. During the Cuban Revolution many of the mansions were appropriated from the wealthy and became museums. In the 1990's another boom in hotels came, bringing four star and five star establishments.

The peninsula's interior is occupied by Oryahovo Heights.
The feature is named after Pope John Paul II (1920–2005) for his contribution to world peace and understanding among people.

Rubha an Dùnain or Rubh' an Dùnain is an uninhabited peninsula to the south of the Cuillin hills on the island of Skye in Scotland. This headland rises to over 30 metres (98 ft) above sea level. Loch na h-Airde is a body of freshwater that is situated to the east of the peninsula close to the sea shore. To its north is Camas a' Mhùrain (bay of the marram grass).

There is a variety of archaeological sites dating from the Neolithic onwards. The name of the peninsula is Gaelic—the meaning of Rubha an Dùn is evidently "headland of the fort" but the last syllable is less clear. In a different context, Mac an Tàilleir suggests Dunain may mean either "bird's hill" or "John's fort".

Ukiangong Point is the southwestern-most point on Butaritari atoll located in the Pacific Ocean island nation of Kiribati. It is located on the islet of Tabonohobi.

Ukiangong Point was fired upon by the USS Nautilus shortly after 7 AM on August 17, 1942, after the submarine had dropped Lieutenant Colonel Evans F. Carlson's Marine Raiders for their approach to Little Makin as part of the Makin Raid. Later in the war, the capture of Ukiangong point was an early objective in the U.S. Army's assault on Butaritari on November 20, 1943.

Lunga Point is a promontory on the northern coast of Guadalcanal, the site of a naval battle during World War II. It was also the name of a nearby airfield, later named Henderson Field.

(USS Lunga Point (CVE-94) is also the name of a US Navy escort carrier that operated in World War II.)

Twenty thousand US Marines landed at Lunga Point on August 7, 1942 in order to capture the airfield being constructed by the Imperial Japanese Army before it could become operational, beginning the Guadalcanal campaign.

The capital of Bataan is Balanga City and is bordered by the provinces of Zambales and Pampanga to the north. The peninsula faces South China Sea to the west and Subic Bay to the north-west, and encloses Manila Bay to the east.

The Battle of Bataan is famous in history as one of the last stands of American and Filipino soldiers before they were overwhelmed by the Japanese forces in World War II. The Bataan Death March was named for this province, where the infamous march started. This is also a location of Bataan Nuclear Power Plant located in Municipality of Morong.

The Curonian Spit is a sandy peninsula that separates the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon. It stretches in a slightly concave arc for a distance of 98km (52km in Lithuania, 46km in Russia) from the Kaliningrad peninsula to the town of Klaipeda, and it varies in width from 0.4 to 3.8km. which stretches for 72km and varies in width between 250m and 1.2km. The average height is 35m, but in places the dunes rise to more than 60m. Dune valleys divide the ridge into separate dune massifs, and capes are generally formed in front of these valleys. At the present time more than half the ridge is forested.

The most significant element of the Spit’s cultural heritage is represented by the old fishing settlements. The earliest of these were buried in sand when the woodland cover was removed. Those that have survived since the beginning of the 19th century are all to be found along the coast of the Curonian Lagoon. At the end of that century more elaborate buildings – lighthouses, churches, schools, and villas – began to be erected alongside the simpler vernacular houses. This was due in part to the fact that the Spit became a recreational centre: Juodkrante became famous as a health resort as early as 1840 and Nida, Preila, and Pervalka were given official recognition in this category in 1933.

The Curonian Spit is shared by both Lithuania and the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad.

The Shiretoko peninsula was formed by volcanic activities and uplift from the Pacific Plate subducting under the North American Plate. The Peninsula comprises a number of volcanoes running along the centre of the peninsula and including the highest peak within the nominated property, Mount Rausu (1,661m). The coastlines on the east and west sides of the peninsula were formed by a combination of volcanic
activities, tectonic movement and marine erosion. For example, sea cliffs around Utoro range from 60m to 120m in height and were formed from andesitic lava
from the eruption of Mt Rausu 80,000 years ago and subsequent marine erosion.
The key feature of the property is the productivity of the marine and terrestrial ecosystem, reflecting the formation
of seasonal sea ice at the lowest latitude among the world’s seasonal sea ice in the northern hemisphere. The formation of the sea ice plays an integral role in the
formation of the phytoplankton which develops on the nutrients supplied by the sea ice. Blooms of ice algae and other phytoplankton occur earlier in spring as ice
melts faster than other sea ice areas. The phytoplankton is the primary producer in the marine ecosystem and provides the source of food for krill and zooplankton such as small shrimp, which in turn become food for small fish, crustacean and shellfish. These in turn become food sources for fish, marine mammals, such as seals and sea lions, as well as birds including the Steller’s sea eagle and the White-tailed eagle. In addition, salmon
and trout swim upstream to spawn and become an important food source for terrestrial species, including the brown bear and the Blakiston’s fish-owl.
