Great Falls (Passaic River)

The Great Falls along the Passaic River rise to 77 feet (23 meters) high.

On April 17, 1970, the falls were listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The falls and surrounding area are part of the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park created in 2009.

In 2018 an amphitheater opened across from the falls at Overlook Park.

A Corga da Fecha, one of the highest waterfalls in Galicia, can only be seen after heavy rain. Its waters flow into the Caldo River, which passes by the Lobios Spa, where you can leave your car and continue on foot along a track that follows what, two thousand years ago in Roman times, was an important communication route linking Bracara Augusta (Braga) with Asturica Augusta (Astorga).

About 800 meters from where the path begins, before crossing the river, we'll take a track that ascends to the left. It's easy to find because there's a sign indicating the way, which will lead us to a first waterfall—just a taste of what's to come.

If we want to climb to the top, we will have to ascend a rocky and steep path that allows us to stop at different heights to observe the waterfall from different points.

IMPORTANT: We must ascend with great caution, especially if the ground is wet.

This is among the tallest waterfalls in Glacier National Park. Draining from a small basin which harbors the remnants of the Boulder Glacier, the stream produced tumbles down the massive headwall at the head of Bowman Creek's valley in a long chain of nearly continuous falls and cascades which have a cumulative drop of about 2,350' over a linear distance of about 0.8 mile.

Intermixed within the series of falls are several sections of talus cascades which break up the continuous bedrock falls; most are fairly short lived and the stream appears to have scoured down to the bedrock for the majority of its descent to the valley floor. As the glacier shrinks and disappears, this waterfall is likely to become a seasonal feature.

The Pozo Caído is located on the Pacín River, a tributary of the Limia River that rises in the Serra do Laboreiro mountain range in Portugal, where it is called Corga do Azebedo. For many kilometers, this river forms the natural border between Spain and Portugal.

To reach the Pozo Caído, take the OU-1212 in Entrimo toward A Feira Vella. Once there, you will find signs for the waterfall. The road leads to the river beach of the Pacín River, where you can park your vehicle and walk along a path to the waterfall, which features a viewing platform and a wooden walkway.

On Monday 25th March 2024 at 15:11UTC, Lucas ON3YB a radio amateur from Belgium made contact with Gene NT2A (using the callsign WI2X) a radio amateur from Statten Island, NY who was operating from the Palisades Interstate Park (NY) (KFF-4750) on the 15m amateur radio band. Gene made a total of 51 contact while he was at the park.

The Palisades Interstate Park (NY) (KFF-4749), is located along the Hudson River and close to Mid-town Manhattan and extends into the state of New Jersey.

The park offer visitors the opportunity for sailing, fishing, canoeing and kayaking and is also popular with hikers and cyclists with its miles of trails.

Part of the Black Ernz river, the Schiessentümpel cascades over a large boulder, and splits the flow into a trio of clear streams before they collect again at the bottom of the falls. The water is split due to 3 long grooves that have been eroded into the boulder over the ages, making it look like a giant hand is allowing the water to sieve through its fingers. This happens at the bottom of a small ravine, also carved out of the rock by the ages of water flowing over its surface, leaving 2 sheer walls on either side of the fall.

The Glen Maye Waterfall is a relatively small but tremendously power waterfall which plunges toward the sea in a verdant gorge filled with mature trees and clothed in ferns, mosses, and trailing plants.

When not in full spate the large pool at the foot of the waterfall is great place to swim as it is wide, deep, clear, and exhilaratingly cold.

The waterfall was the scene of tragedy in 1938 when an American tourist was killed when he decided to dive into the pool and drowned.

Manx folklore maintains that the pool is inhabited by the ‘Cabbyl-Ushtey’ in Manx Gaelic or in English the Water Horse.

The bridge above the fall was replaced in 1980 at the cost of £14,000 while the current lower bridge dates from 2001.

Glen Maye is the anglicised version of the name ‘Glion Muigh’ or the ‘Yellow Glen’. It is thought that this name was given to the glen because at times of flood the river flowing down from South Barrule and the other surrounding hills would take on a yellow tint due its high iron content.
