Former St Mary Abbot's Hospital

Former St Mary Abbot's Hospital (StreetView)
This was once the entrance to the old St Mary Abbot's Hospital in Kensington, London. Rock legend Jimi Hendrix was taken here after overdosing in 1970. He was pronounced dead at 12:45pm, on September 18, 1970 by Dr. John Bannister. Several scenes from the 1973 film Steptoe and Son Ride Again were also filmed here. The Hospital closed in 1992 and the majority of the buildings were subsequently demolished. The site has been redeveloped as luxury housing in a secure gated community. It is now known as Stone Hall Gardens.
