Like the nearby Brill Building, 1650 Broadway houses many businesses related to the music industry: producers, publishers, agents, composers, and performers. In the late nineteen-fifties and early nineteen-sixties, this building was the birthplace of much R&B and Rock and Roll music.

At this address is Iridium, a jazz club, where late guitar legend Les Paul performed weekly until his last year.
