For the 1988 model year, the NUMMI and Cambridge, Ontario-built Toyota Corollas made for the North American Market did away with the boxy styling of the E80, ushering in a more aerodynamic style compared to its predecessor, characterized with longer bumpers and conspicuity lights on the rear quarter panels, with cabin air exiting via the rear side windows' vents. The model would go on to have 279,000 out of 4.5 million AE92 Corollas built. Its platform would also be found in General Motors's basic Geo Prizm sedan. This wagon is of the DX (Deluxe) trim level, positioned between the standard base model and the LE and has AE94 in its VIN code. The three motors available were all variants of the Toyota A engine producing 95, 105, and 115 (1988-1989 model years) hp respectively.
