1999-2001 Toyota Camry Solara XV20

In the 1990s, Toyota was considering to put a sport-oriented trim for the Camry to combine the physique of a sports car with the practicality of a standard Camry sedan. The Toyota Camry Coupe replacement, initially designed by Calty Design Research's Warren J. Crain in 1995, the first Solara rolled out of the production line of Cambridge, Ontario's TMMC plant in June 1998 for the 1999 model year. Engines are the same as a standard Camry, but with a slight bump up in horsepower, leading to a 135 hp I4 and a 200 mph V6, respectively, with the latter reaching 60 miles per hour in 7.1 seconds. It was also the first Toyota to come with the option of a JBL Premium Stereo, and SE and SLE convertibles joined the lineup in 2000.
