James Dean never owned a home in LA and until shortly before his death never really resided on his own but instead shared apartments with fellow actors or lived on and off with his father Winston in nearby Reseda CA

His final home was a cabin structure on Sutton Street in Sherman Oaks in which he rented from a friend.

Actually, his father's name was Winton

The log cabin structure was Dean's final home. He rented it from the maitre d of a restaurant that he liked to go to. (The Villa Capri)
