The 8 x 10 ft Subsonic Wind Tunnel is a "general purpose" low Mach Number facility possessing good airflow characteristics, reasonable size, and maximum flexibility for mounting and testing a wide variety of aircraft, ships, and components.
The facility supports ship/aircraft interface technology and general fluid mechanics research and development. The Tunnel test section is constructed mainly of wood to permit easy alterations. Instrumentation includes external and internal force balances which are available for the measurement of fluid dynamic forces and moments on propeller and jet-powered models as well as miscellaneous components.
