On Sunday 7th April 2024 at 09:27 UTC, Danny ON4VT, a radio amateur from Belgium, made contact with Radio Club Station Ajdovscina S53ANN/P, who were operating from Žejna dolina (S5FF-0305), on the 20m amateur radio band. Damijan (S589G) a member of the club, spoke to Danny. The club made a total of 130 contacts while they were at the reserve.
Žejna dolina (S5FF-0305), is a protected area of 55 hectares, which lies to the south-west of Ljubljana in Slovenia. It was designated as a Special Protected Area in 2004 and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
Natura 2000 aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
