Ahvenisto Sporting Centre (Olympic site) (Birds Eye)
Hämeenlinna, Finland, was the site of modern pentathlon in the 1952 olympic games. It is over hundred kilometres north from the main olympic sites in Helsinki. Modern pentathlon included five events: pistol shooting, epee fencing, 200 m freestyle swimming and show jumping and a 3 km cross country run. Swimming contest was held in the open air pool at the Ahvenisto Sporting Centre built specifically for the purpose and the cross country run in woods around the area.
